The Healthy Range: Authenticity and Excellence (Levels 1 to 3)
At these levels, Type 3 is able to value themselves for who they are, no longer just for what they do.
* Level 1: Inner-directed and authentic. The 3 gives up the belief that their worth depends on others' admiration. They discover their real identity and deep desires, becoming authentic, modest, and caring.
* Level 2: Adaptable and admirable. They focus on the qualities valued by those around them in order to feel "worthwhile." Their self-image is: « I am exceptional, competent, and I have unlimited potential ».
* Level 3: Goal-oriented and self-improving. They reinforce their image by actually developing their talents. They become an inspiring role model, efficient and disciplined, able to motivate others by example.
The Average Range: Performance and Image (Levels 4 to 6)
This is where Type 3 begins to become alienated from themselves in order to satisfy outward expectations.
* Level 4: Success-oriented and high-performing. They fear being outshone by others. They begin pushing themselves relentlessly to stand out and gain attention through constant one-upmanship.
* Level 5: Image-conscious and expedient. They are afraid of losing others' esteem. They work frantically to cultivate the most appealing image possible, hiding their doubts behind a mask of the "cool professional."
* Level 6: Self-promoting and grandiose. They fear going unnoticed if they are not "huge." They begin to boast, becoming competitive and arrogant to protect a self-esteem that has become fragile and narcissistic.
The Unhealthy Range: Deception and Despair (Levels 7 to 9)
At this stage, Type 3 loses control and their personality fragments in the face of a sense of failure.
* Level 7: Unprincipled and deceptive. They fear their successes may be empty or fraudulent. To keep up appearances, they begin to lie shamelessly to themselves and others, feeling empty and depressed inside.
* Level 8: Duplicity and opportunism. Desperate for attention, they invent stories or schemes to hide their psychological deterioration. They will do anything to keep anyone from seeing their mistakes.
* Level 9: Monomaniacal and relentless. They feel they can no longer win back the admiration of those close to them. They may lose control of their repressed rage and seek revenge on those who, in their view, rejected or "humiliated" them.
